Tiny working at last

Last weeks I've been really busy in my real life and haven't been able to do anything to my tiny world. I finally did some small jobs today...

First I painted the front of the roof to gray. The lace I used to cover some green paint in the doors and in the front line is originally a present wrapping ribbon. Image of the ceiling is the main reason of the colours of Greenleaf Day Spa, and it's printed from Duro.

Green Is Good

I painted all the white surfaces of the frame to light green, which seems to be too garish to me. I'm planning to cover the most of the paint with some laces or something...

I removed the wall of downstairs and sawed a new window to the upstairs. It was easy to tie a door to the frame. I did some painting as well.

I wanted to cover the edges of sticker paper of the roof and bought some satin thread to it. I also made tiny bows to each corner.

I just bought myself another Lundby Gothenburg... I found it from flea market and it cost only 9,50 €. Pretty cheap though it's in bad condition.

Here's the front of the house.

To the this room I would have wanted a door, but there isn't any. I have a door left from my first Lundby - got to check how it would manage here.

Bamboo Placemat from Tiimari

I was shopping in Tiimari again, and bought a multipurposal bamboo placemat.

Couple of walls to the Fortune Teller's Cottage. The roof is printed from Duro.

Here's a few shelves to the Pick-a-Cherry Store, my second roombox. The roof is my own design (cherry image is from the internet) and printed to the sticker paper.

I used bamboo sticks to the treshold between the kitchen and the livingroom of Lundby as well.

Fortune Teller's Cottage

My first roombox will be a Fortune Teller's Cottage, which I have painted in black with acrylic paints. Afterwards I polished it with gloss varnish.

Inside it I'm planning to do some gypsy woman sitting next to her crystal ball. In the cottage will be other fortune-telling stuff, too.

The bookshelf is made of thick cardboard, which I painted after cutting & glueing.

In the books I used the real book covers of the real 1950's literature, like The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Covers are printed on paperboard, then folded to the right shape. Afterward I cut pieces of a phone book and glued them inside of each fold.

Marshall's wife Mrs is made of clay, too. The top of her swing dress is painted on her body, the hem is fabric. Mrs doesn't have name, actually. I guess it's their inside joke or something to call her just Mrs.

Here's Marshall, the first doll I've ever made myself. The doll is made of clay, which I grinded smoothly like a sculpture after drying. I found sculpturing very excitening and would like to it more! Finally I painted the doll with acrylic paints and sewed the clothes (of felt and some stretching cloth) on him.

I used some black felt to the carpet of stairs. A few things to do left: new window sills & ledges, new coat to the outside of the house, ceilings of downstairs... Marshall & Mrs are soon completed - of course I haven't got many furniture or accessory yet...

I put new carpets where needed. The felt should have been more light, but this was only alternative I found.

In addition of doing these little jobs, I've done some modeling of clay. Looks like the members of the household will be a young couple without kids - but that's another story...

Kitchen remodeling

Before putting up wallpaper and floors, make sure you've painted borders of the room if you have been planning to do that! Kitchen wallpaper is taken from Bradbury & Bradbury. The pattern is printed in to the sticker paper.

When I put up the wallpaper in to the kitchen I realized it sheers old wallpaper, damn!

Being such a perfectionist, I had to put new wallpaper on the first one. Also I painted other walls and floors with white acrylic paint.

The kitchen floor is made of a piece of sticker paper, whom I had printed my own design of checker. After printing I matched the paper to the floor, cut the right shape and then made it shine by using some transparent sticker on to the top of it.

Half panel is made of slices of corrugated cardboard.

The real colour of the ceiling is fucsia, made of corrugated cardboard as well.

I used grilling sticks (painted in white) to the moldings.

The kitchen is almost finished, I want to do some little decorating on to the inside of the arcade and some kind of window sills have to be done, too.

How to make an arcade

I made a tiny arcade to the wall between living room and kitchen. Surface of the arcade will be decorated later.

Make the wall thicker using cardboard. First, take a form of both sides of the wall, and carve cardboard to the same shape. Round the inside angles. Glue the cardboards to the wall.

Use some modeling clay like grout to block the inside of the cardboards.

After drying, grind the clay smoothly.

Take a slice of sticker paper and press it to the clay. Form the slice to last to the both sides of the wall as well.

Press the sticker paper to walls, too. Remark the curve of the angles!

Cut a piece of sticker paper to cover the angles again.

Enjoy your new arcade by putting up wallpaper to both sides!

First I covered the hole of the window with a piece of thick cardboard and some masking tape.

Then I covered the cardboard with a piece of sticker paper.

Playing with my new little saw

Today's job was to do something to the windows and that extra wall between the kitchen and the livingroom. I bought a little saw, isn't it sweet or what? First I sawed the wall, then another window to the kitchen, the original will be covered. I think it was easier to saw vertical direction than horizontally. All the surfaces are grinded and the last shape will develope when I'll cover the coats.

Shopping in Tiimari

Today I went to local hobby store Tiimari to by some equipment to redecorate the house. (Which doesn't have even name yet!) I bought two different colours of acrylic paints - pink and light blue. Also I bought gloss varnish to polish up some of the furniture after painting. I'm planning to do some stools to the kitchen and to the bar with the aluminium thread and lumber buttons.

I still need some white corrugated cardboard, grey felt and a little saw to switch the windows of the kitchen. Sticker sheets would be great to print different styles of wallpaper and floor decorations as well.

Last night I removed all the sills and ledges of the windows, the door between the kitchen and the livingroom had to go, too, because I'll remove the whole wall. Upper part of the wall will stay, altough I'll make it vaulted.

Yesterday I got home my own old doll house, which is original Swedish Lundby Gothenburg classic from mid-1980's. It didn't take long to get inspired to re-decorate it by myself! I don't have a single furniture or accessory left, and my dream is to make all things by myself. Let's see how I'll manage!

The proportion of Lundby is 1:18.
